Happy Birthday PL! 100 Voices – 100 Years

Last Monday it was 100 years, to the day, since Preston Lodge students first started learning in our school. 

To kick start a year of celebration, Thursday saw the premiere of an amazing film, which captures really well the spirit of our school, and our community. 

100 Voices – 100 Years was a collaboration between professional filmmaker Jonathan Charles, our own Louise Marr and five filmmaking students – Hannah Burns, Calum Dickson, Harlie Davidson, Skye Paculanang and Austin Bannerman. Since June, they have filmed many hours of footage, which they have distilled down into 15 minutes of pure PL nostalgia, humour and pride. They have done so well, and we are all enormously grateful. 

We had a brilliant night on Thursday, and thank you so much to the many PL staff, students, parents, grandparents, former pupils and staff, along with so many friends of PL, who joined us for a great evening of film watching, music, food, fun and reflection. We even sang Gaudeamus and the PL Hymn – the first time our Assembly Hall has heard those songs in a long time. 

Thank you, too, to the many staff, students and sponsors, who made the evening possible before and on the night. We are particularly grateful to the East Lothian Educational Trust, and to Starbucks, for their support. 

We hope you enjoy these pictures, and the film will go on general release on Friday lunchtime. We know you’ll love it.
