All S5 and S6 Students undertaking National 5, or Higher Maths at Preston Lodge, were invited to participate in a Maths Study Camp, during February at an outdoor residential centre, Innerwick, near Dunbar.
‘It gave me background information about maths that we do and where it comes into in the real world which helped build my understanding of it’.
‘The lessons were well prepared and there were help sheets and extra questions to take away and practice.’
‘I liked the fact that we got to choose the sessions we wanted to go to.’
‘It was good to be taught by a variety of teachers as they all shared different techniques.’
‘I liked the small groups instead of a large class. As there were only a few students per session it was easier to get help from the teacher.’
‘It gave me some practice doing more complex, problem solving questions which I wouldn’t have been able to do if I was just given them in the exam.’
‘It was good experience to gain some 1-1 help compared to being in a large class.’
‘You got to work on the things you find hard and it helped me a lot.’
‘It gave me the pieces of information missing from my knowledge and will help with my final exam.’
